Soybean Seed Health

چکیده
Fig. 3. Wrinkled, white, moldy-appearing seed infected by Phomopsis spp. More than 30 fungi are seed-borne on soybeans. Some, such as Phomopsis spp., the cause of pod and stem blight disease, can severely reduce seed viability (fi g. 1). Others cause quality problems, such as purple seed stain, caused by Cercospora kikuchii, but have less severe effects on viability. However, most fungi that are associated with soybean seeds are not known to cause disease.

Genotyping-by-Sequencing-Based Investigation of the Genetic Architecture Responsible for a ∼Sevenfold Increase in Soybean Seed Stearic Acid
Soybean oil is highly unsaturated but oxidatively unstable, rendering it nonideal for food applications. Until recently, the majority of soybean oil underwent partial chemical hydrogenation, which produces trans fats as an unavoidable consequence. Dietary intake of trans fats and most saturated fats are conclusively linked to negative impacts on cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health. Two...
متن کاملScreening of Microfungi from Soybean (glycine Max L.) Seeds
Seed health testing by studying the seed-borne fungi of soybean seeds is an important step in the management of the seed-borne diseases. In the present study seed-borne fungi was studied by using agar plate method. A number of seed-borne fungal species was isolated from the agar plate. These seed-borne fungal sps. were Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, Chaetomium globosum, Curvularia ...
متن کاملInfluence of Seed Ageing on Growth and Yield of Soybean
Effect of seed ageing on stand establishment, growth and yield of three soybean varieties was studied. Treatments consisted of three varieties viz. Shohag, Bangladesh soybean 4 and BARIsoybean-5 with four levels of seed ageing viz. 20, 12, 8 and 2 months aged seed. Seed germination and field emergence percentage decreased but electrical conductivity of seed leachate increased with increasing se...
متن کاملTranscript Polymorphism Rates in Soybean Seed Tissue Are Increased in a Single Transformant of Glycine max
Transgenic crops have been utilized for decades to enhance agriculture and more recently have been applied as bioreactors for manufacturing pharmaceuticals. Recently, we investigated the gene expression profiles of several in-house transgenic soybean events, finding one transformant group to be consistently different from our controls. In the present study, we examined polymorphisms and sequenc...
